Careers at Symbric

Founding Engineer (Full-Stack, AI)

Full time onsite, San Francisco

Apply

Symbric is building the AI operating system for healthcare: agents that read the systems care runs on, reason within each organization's rules, and act alongside the people who deliver care.

You’ll work directly with a co-founder to build new capabilities for our AI-native healthcare technology, from the interfaces people use to the workflows agents execute. You’ll shape what we build next and strengthen the engineering foundation as the product grows.

What you'll do

  • Work with founders and domain experts to turn workflows into product.
  • Build and ship new capabilities end to end, across the user interface, backend and AI agents.
  • Own the architecture and production performance of what you build.
  • Raise the bar on testing, code review, CI/CD and observability.
  • Make the system faster, more reliable and cheaper to run as it scales.
  • Improve the accuracy, speed and reliability of our AI agents, with evals that gate every change.
  • Harden security for sensitive health data.
  • Hire and lead the engineering team as it grows.

What we're looking for

Required

  • 5+ years building production software, including a system you owned that people depended on.
  • Experience taking an existing codebase to a higher standard: testing, CI/CD, observability and code review.
  • Experience running and scaling cloud infrastructure in production: performance, reliability, cost, and backups you have actually restored.
  • Full-stack web development in a typed language.
  • Production experience with relational databases: data modeling, zero-downtime migrations, concurrency.
  • Experience securing sensitive data: access control, encryption, audit logs and incident response.
  • Shipped production code with AI coding agents, backed by tests and review.

Preferred

  • Experience with healthcare or other regulated industries.
  • Building labeled eval sets and holding AI output to a precision and recall bar.
  • Early-stage startup experience.

What we care about

  • You want your work to help people, and you care how it lands for them.
  • You're low-ego and direct, and you care about the team winning.
  • You ship early, learn fast and keep designs simple.

Pay and Benefits

  • Base salary: $180,000 to $240,000, set by experience.
  • Benefits: Health, dental and vision insurance, lunch, and a 401(k).
  • Equity: 0.5% to 1.5% in stock options, with vesting.
  • Location: San Francisco, on-site 5 days a week.
  • Team: Thoughtful, collaborative people who share ideas openly, enjoy working together and have fun along the way.
  • Accommodations: If you need an accommodation at any stage, contact your recruiter or our team.
